Carrol Stearns, Columnist: "HERE'S 4 GILENYA TIPS & REASONS WHY I THINK ANYONE NEWLY DIAGNOSED SHOULD GIVE GILENYA A TRY"

CARROL STEARNS, COLUMNIST

Hmm, what I like about Gilenya. Well, I've been on it for a little over a yr and so far, knock on wood, I haven't really had any problems. I can say, anyone that is newly DX, I would definitely give Gilenya a try.

HERE'S 4 GILENYA TIPS & REASONS WHY I THINK THAT ANYONE NEWLY DIAGNOSED SHOULD GIVE GILENYA A TRY:

(1) Taking a pill once a day is so much better than finding a spot to jab a needle in. At least in my opinion.

(2) The only problem I have that is a pain in the ass, is the numb feet and numb right hand. the feet more than anything and then when they get hot, OH LORD! I just want to put them in a bucket of ice. What I do though is I use one of the ice packs that came with my cooling vest, wrap a cloth around it and put that on my feet.

(3) I've also found that Absorbing Jr helps to cool them off. All in all, I have been feeling pretty good and with the help of Provigil, I have some energy to do things.

(4) From my experience, I've had no side effects at all. But I will say this, if you do decide to try it, make sure you put SUNSCREEN on when you are going to be out in the sun. It can cause you to sunburn even if you usually don't.

Other than that, I really like it. And the big bonus, they have a plan that whatever your insurance doesn't pay, they cover so your medicine costs you $0.00 and to me, that is awesome

I have noticed that when my kids come for a visit, I feel SO much better having them around. I wish they lived closer but, they are grown and have their own lives and kids to raise:
